2 ½ cups canned baked beans (A&M, Bushes, etc) ¼ c ketchup 1/3 cup each minced celery, onion, green peppers 2 Tablespoons dark molasses 2 T brown sugar (packed) 3 T bacon drippings (from 4-6 strips) 3 (or more to taste) hot sauce (Tabasco, Texas Champagne, etc)
Pour beans in shallow greased baking dish. Cover with minced bacon
Saute minced veggies in balance of bacon grease (reserve 3T) Mix into rest of ingredients
Bake covered at 350◦ for 30 minutes. Remove from oven, uncover and drip the reserved 3T of bacon “oil”. Cook at 350◦ uncovered for another 30 minutes. |
